What is Orange and Very Loveable?

Despite all that has been going on with Titan and his almost ripped off toe nail, we managed to find some “cute” time when Titan’s very first coat arrived from Baxter Boo. Boy, was it an experience trying to find one to fit!

Here’s Titan’s measurements:

  • Neck = 21 inches
  • Chest = 34.5 inches
  • Neck to Tail = 23 inches

The issue on fit is his chest size. He’s got big moobies like his Momma! So we found a coat we liked, on Baxter Boo, and checked for fit.

We ended up having to get an Xtra Large. Seems strange cause he’s such a lil guy. ;) So it arrive and I was so anxious to get it on him. We tried it on and well, it’s a tad big around the neck, but fits his chest so it will do. He was feeling miserable so I didn’t purse any pictures until this morning.

Before I left for work, I suited him up and out the door we went. Unfortunately, his injury is still bothering him and we didn’t get far. Not even out the gate this time. So here’s the first two pics and I’m sure you can see the misery in his face.

That last pic almost looks like FEAR in his eyes however he really wanted to go outside as he so loves our morning and evening walks. Again, it didn’t last long due to his toe. :(

So this afternoon, we get a bit of snow. Bad timing cause Titan and I love to play in it. So what’s the story behind the orange coat? Well, it matches my pit bull taxi. :)

Pretty close, no? So instead of trying to walk Titan tonight, I decided to just be out in the yard with him. With the snow coming down, I was super paranoid about him slipping down the deck steps. I kept sweeping them off and then laying Safe Paws down; then sweeping again, again, and again.

While we were outside, I managed to take a few more pics. BTW, Titan LOVES wearing his coat!

The snow was still coming down in the pic. Looks a tad distorted. :)

One of his favorite past times……. eating snow.

So the coat is a definite plus. It’s reversible and will be good in rain as well. Glad I finally did it. Now to get booties to match. Not sure how he’ll like the booties though but we’re gonna try.

Update on the toe:

Titan is scheduled to go back to the vet Tuesday night. We actually had his annual exam already scheduled that day so when speaking with the vet today, she said “We’ll see ya Tuesday.” Until then, I’m trying to keep Titan from running around and acting like an idiot. I’m so afraid he’s going to rip the nail entirely off and having to make an Emergency visit to the Animal Hospital where they don’t even know Titan. That could be a REAL bad thing.

The hubs has helped me soak his paw in the iodine and water solution. I couldn’t keep him still enough myself and keep his paw in the bowl. Thank you hubs for stepping up to the plate.

The vet said the nail would need to be removed so I’m PRAYING that she can do it Tuesday night. I hate the idea of taking him back, leaving him, them sedating him, and surgically removing the nail. However, if that’s what it comes down to, I’ll have no choice. Titan does not do well in cages, crates, and putting him into a kennel would just be bad news so any prayers you can send my way would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I wanted to thank all of you for supporting me through the Titan nail injury. You’ve been a truly fabulous support system and I am forever grateful! ;)

  1. Titan looks so handsome in his new coat! And I love his face. I have seen that look on many pibbles’s faces before lol. It’s the “I may look tough but I’m really a big baby” look. No offense Titan, I still think you’re very manly! Hope his toe is feeling better soon, I know he’ll make it through.

    • Aww thanks so much Ann! I love him in orange! He really is a big baby around the hubs and I and those who he is familiar with. Others? Most just run or walk the other way. :) Thanks for the well wishes!

  2. Hey, the color orange looks good on him. It’s out little country’s color too. I hope the nail heals soon. Just think about it, it must be hurting like hell.
    Cool taxi too!

    • I’m surprised it looks that well on him. I believe it compliments him. :) Thanks on the Taxi. Yes, thinking about putting letters on the back that says “Pit Bull Taxi” or “Titan’s Taxi”. :) He loves his ride! Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully after Tuesday’s appointment, there will be no looking back!

  3. He looks very handsome in his new coat – I’m sure he’d love to go romp around in the snow!! I hope your appointment on Tuesday goes well and all is taken care of!

    • Thank you Julie! He did a lil romping while it was hear. Today, just about all of it melted. I’m hoping to get a good dumping of snow this winter when Titan is 100% so we can have a snow ball fight! :)

  4. The coat looks really good on him! not only does it match the jeep, but it looks good with his fur. I can’t imagine getting any dog to soak their foot; hope it is all better soon.

    • Thanks Heather! Yep, I think Momma chose him a good color all the way around. Oh yeah, if you never had to soak a big boys paw before, you just don’t know. Ugh! I can’t wait for this to be over :)

  5. Hello Brenda it looks great on him, glad to hear he’s doing much better I know how we worry about our babies.

    • Thanks Rob! Yes, he seems to be better and getting back to his normal self, still tender and a lil gimpy but he’s coming along. I’m hoping we don’t backtrack after his vet visit Tuesday

  6. Bren, Titan is so adorable in that orange coat. He really needs it in this weather too. I hope he makes out okay and that it removes itself. Hang in there! {hugs}

    • :) Thanks Lisa! The good thing is, he likes it. Pitties hair is so baby fine and short so, at least mine, does get cold. It will be good for in the rain as well. And thanks for the nail. I’m so ready for it to be done!

  7. Awwww, he looks so sad in those first pictures! But very handsome in his new jacket. :) I need to get one for my doggie, he hates the cold and always shivers when we go outside in the winter. He needs like a big warm one though, and I can’t seem to find one in his size.

I hope Titan doesn’t end up needing surgery! Poor guy. I wonder how he did that to his nail.

    • Camille, Baxtor Boo has some fabulous ones and inexpensive! We were at Petsmart yesterday looking for booties and the coats were outrageous, well at least in the big boys size. Check BaxterBoo.Com. Came highly recommended to me and if you find one, I have a discount code for you. :)

Surgery is the last resort. I’m still worried about it and praying it doesn’t come to that. I think he went to come in our laundry room door, which the doorway has a inch or two lift, think he mistepped and just pulled it up but I could be wrong. Didn’t even know anything happened until 30 minutes later :/

  8. Poor Titan; I’m sorry his toe is still hurting him :( He does look awfully handsome in that smart orange coat though!

Really the orange color works on him well and he’s like a prince charming ;) Orrrr Nom Nom Prince Charming?

Mmm… As I’m late here, I hope he’s doing alright and looking forward to hear more good news about him Brenda :)

So it’s gonna be tomorrow, right? He’s always in my prayers and sending more on your way Brenda.

    Take care y’all…

    Cheers…

  13. We’re hoping Titan stays calm and gets the nail taken care of Tuesday. Twiggy also does not do well in crates or kennels. She was kicked out of doggy daycare because when she was a year old she couldn’t handle “kennel time” and climbed the steel 6′ gate twice in 15 minutes and ran around the place. Then, when they finally got her back inside she nipped at the woman who was trying to make her stay in there. :( She feels for Titan.
Chloe Twiggy and Onyx recently posted…Wordless Wednesday #94: Treats = PatienceMy Profile

    • Thank you! The nail wasn’t ready to come off yet so we are soaking for another 3 weeks and hoping by then, it’ll be ready. Last attempt before sedation. Not cool as I read about Twiggy. Titan couldn’t be crated, or at least I wouldn’t, don’t believe in it. But I wouldn’t even have the heart to even try and kennel him. So if it comes to sedation, they better keep him out all day or they’ll have their hands full in whatever kind of kennel they let him recoop in. :/ They’ve been forewarned :) Poor Twiggy….

  14. Oh finding clothes to fit pitties in every area is nearly impossible. Especially with my very SHORT little pitties. That coat is very cute.
Hmmm I bet my dogs would be snow eaters if we lived in a wintery climate.

    • Hi Emily! Yes, I’m finding this out. I need to make a few minor alterations to this one, good thing it wasn’t expensive. And thanks for the comps. Titan hasn’t learned that he CAN pee with it on. hehe He waits for me to take it off him, then he pees. Silly pibbles. Oh yeah, bet your babes would love snow. Titan loves it so much, I’m thinking of getting one of those snow cone machines. :)

Woof at us ;) !
