Not Quite as Bad as Expected

Yes, that’s right. You may recall my post of yesterday, Fun at Castle Titan Today, where I talk about my game plan for Titan while the gas dudes come to the house to replace the piping going to my furnace and my water heater.

Well……………………… let’s say when I saw the truck trucks pull up in my driveway, Mr. Titan was on the couch with me in the living room taking a cat nap. He instantly jumped up and went into action….. as well as the Momma did skipping directly to Plan B.

Plan B

I went out the front door to great the dudes and directed them out back of my house. I explained again, about Titan and how he is about his house and visitors. They were both cool about it. So after taking them out back to where they had their work cut out, I came inside. Titan was barking frantically from the other side of my bedroom door. So I brought him out of the bedroom, put on his prong collar and leash and out the front door we went.

I let Titan walk around and then to my back yard I went. This was the first time I was glad we didn’t fence in the entire back yard. Titan and I went on the other side of the fence, to where both of us could see the dudes working and watched…..

and watched…….

and watched…………..

010813fUntil they dudes had to go inside to do some testing and back to the bedroom Mr. T went, which by the way, he was not pleased about not one bit.

So needless to say, what I thought was going to turn out horrible, Plan B worked temporarily, until I thought of a better plan. I hope to be able to allow Titan to “observe” the going-on’s in and out of the house in the future, weather permitting of course.

  1. Too funny, he did so well Brenda. Great photos. Love to see video of him barking away in bedroom. The last picture looks like he doesn’t have a care in the world!

    • Thanks Lisa! I was very happy with him, outside. Inside? Not so much but I come to realize, he likes to see what’s going on and wants to be involved. ;) You’re right about that pic. He was just laying there, sun bathing, and watching the guys next to his Momma. He was so good!

What a clever bit of management.

I’ve struggled with protective dog/contractor syndrome for years. Most recently I had a fearful foster dog and we camped out on the back porch in 40 degree weather to give electricians full run of the house without starting a fearful barkfest.

When it’s just my Golden, Honey, I have a different problem. She just wants to get lovies from everyone and won’t leave contractors alone.

You’re so smart to realize that letting Titan see the workers would make him feel more comfortable.

BTW, love the look of your site. I just got a Genesis theme for my two blogs which I hope I can make as pretty as yours.

    • Welcome to Pibbles & Me Pamela and thank you for sharing with me! It’s sad that some dogs are just fearful or insecure around strangers. I totally get it though. I’m not too fond of strangers either :) Brrr… sorry about your foster. I wonder how it would have acted inside the house on a leash? Your Honey, sounds like an absolute kissy fest! Love it!

I was willing to try anything to keep Titan calm and apparently, this time it worked. You bet I’ll be trying it in the future when others have to come for maintenance and such.

Thanks for the compliment also! This is new theme for 2013. I absolutely adore Genesis themes from Studiopress. I have a bunch of em, if you ever want one ;) . Thank you for stopping by again and sharing! I love your blog btw, and your babies! Happy hump day!

  3. Looks like he did great and very well behaved, my Max would have been barking the whole time, he’s a barker baby. I love those PB because they are so loving and I will stick up for them because people treat them so bad. Titan good by :)

    • Thank you Rob! Yes, I’m very pleased at how well he handled himself outside and around the dudes. Inside he was just upset cause he couldn’t see what they were doing. Once he did, he was fine. Odd, right? I’m such a proud pibbles Momma as you can tell. I’ll brag and talk about my boy until I’m out of breath. :)

  4. Plan C! :) Looks like he did great and enjoyed watching the action. Way to go Titan!

    • Thanks hon! Yeah, didn’t know I had a backup for my backup plan but glad I did! It went flawlessly…. well almost! :)

  5. What a good boy! At least he wasn’t barking while he was watching them work, I’m sure he made his mama proud.

    • He was very good Ann! I was amazed. I honestly think he just wanted to be “in” on what was going on and be able to see it. He’s kinda strange like that but I love him that much more! :)

Woof at us ;) !
